The course

Starts on the Champs-Elysees by the Arc de Triomphe and finishes on Avenue Foch, passing the Louvre, Bastille, Bois de Vincennes, the Seine and the Eiffel Tower. Largely flat with a few gentle underpasses.

Where to stay

The Champs-Elysees and 8th arrondissement sit right on the start; the Marais and Saint-Germain give a lively central base on good Metro links.

Getting there

From Charles de Gaulle (CDG) the RER B reaches central Paris in around 35 minutes; from Orly the Orlyval plus RER B takes a similar time.

That weekend

From 2027 the Ville de Paris concession sits with Cadence (replacing ASO); expo details may shift, so check the official site once registration opens (expected autumn 2026). Add a Seine-side shakeout, the Louvre, Montmartre and a Seine dinner cruise.

Sample 4-day trip

Arrive, explore, race, then head home. A proper weekend, not a rushed fly-by.

  1. Day 1: Arrive

Fly into Charles de Gaulle (CDG). RER B reaches central Paris in about 35 minutes. Public transport works well for most runners. Book a private transfer for late flights or heavy kit.

Check into the Marais, Saint-Germain, or near the Champs-Élysées . From 2027, Cadence takes over from ASO, so check the official site once registration opens for expo details.

  2. Day 2: Shakedown Run and Explore the City

Collect your bib at the Paris Marathon expo (location may shift under the new organiser). Jog an easy Seine-side shakeout.

Keep the rest of the day light: Louvre exteriors, Montmartre at a stroll, or Eiffel tickets if you want something booked. Early dinner near your hotel.

  3. Day 3: Race Day

The start is on the Champs-Élysées by the Arc de Triomphe. From most central hotels, a short Metro walk suffices. Arrive early for bag drop and start pens.

Finish on Avenue Foch. Celebrate with a long lunch rather than cross-town sightseeing. Save Seine cruises for tomorrow if legs allow.

  4. Day 4: Final Day

If the flight allows, one last café crème, a slow Marais wander, or museum tickets at recovery pace. RER B back to CDG is straightforward, but leave margin after 42 km.

Three nights covers expo, race, and a calm exit without limping through Orly or CDG.
