Paris Marathon weekend cost from the UK

The Paris Marathon bib is a fixed entry fee. The weekend is where UK runners usually feel the number — short-haul flights, April hotels in central Paris, and an expo day that usually eats a Saturday.

For 2027, the organiser’s published general entry fee is €169 on the new ASICS Marathon de Paris site (Cadence took over from ASO). That is the lottery bib only. It does not include a room in the 8th, a flight into CDG, or a fundraising pledge if you take a charity route.

What “Paris Marathon cost” actually includes

Three different questions get stuffed into one search.

1. What do I pay the organiser / charity? Lottery place: €169 to Cadence. Charity: registration fee plus pledge to that charity (often separate from the race operator). Corporate or tour package: whatever that bundle lists.
2. What do you pay to be in Paris that weekend? Flights into CDG (or Orly), hotels, food, Metro/RER, maybe Eiffel tickets or a Seine cruise for whoever is not racing. Eurostar into Gare du Nord is a real alternative from London.
3. What does a charity place cost in cash you have to find? The pledge is real money you have to raise or cover. It does not replace the flight or the hotel.

We only answer (1) and (2) with indicative figures. (3) belongs to the charity you sign with.

The 2027 general lottery opened 8 September and closes 30 September 2026. If you miss it, charity and corporate routes remain the usual backups, plus any subsequent organiser draws. Do not price an April hotel until the bib is confirmed — and paid within the 72-hour window if you are selected.

Entering the lottery itself is free. You pay only if you are selected and complete registration in time.

What the weekend costs from the UK

Paris is a short-haul city-break marathon, not a stay-at-home race and not a long-haul Major. The flight (or Eurostar) is usually the predictable line; central rooms on race weekend are the ones that move.

Our Paris Marathon estimate uses an indicative £110 bib (the official 2027 general fee is €169), £140 a night, and £80 flights. For one runner and one room, three nights is about £610 before optional extras. From CDG, RER B reaches central Paris in about 35 minutes; Orly is a similar hop via Orlyval plus RER. A private transfer only really wins for a late arrival with kit. From London, price Eurostar against the flight before you assume the plane is cheaper.

The 8th arrondissement and Champs-Élysées corridor have historically suited race morning when the start sat by the Arc de Triomphe. Cadence has not published the 2027 start/finish yet, so treat “walk to the gun” as provisional and stay on good Metro links. The Marais and Saint-Germain remain solid city bases either way. Book the room after you have paid for the bib, not while the lottery is still open.

Expect a full expo / packet-pickup day before the race — that is normal for a field this size. Cadence has not published the 2027 expo venue or hours yet; check the runner emails once you have a bib. Queue, merch, and getting back across town are why three nights beats squeezing collection into race morning. If someone in the group is not racing, museum tickets or a Seine cruise beat dragging a tapering runner up Montmartre.

French mass races usually need a medical certificate or health declaration (PPS). Cadence says the 2027 rules will be set in the race regulations — budget the GP appointment or paperwork as a real UK cost line, not a footnote.

Paris vs other short-haul marathons

If the search was really “how much does a marathon weekend cost from the UK,” Paris sits with Berlin and Amsterdam in the short-haul band. It is not a World Marathon Major, and it is not automatically cheaper than London once hotels land.

Charity Paris is still usually cheaper than charity London on the pledges we see (£2,500–£2,800), but it is not a £610 problem once a £1,000 pledge lands. If the goal is a first overseas marathon without fundraising, Paris is on the first-overseas shortlist for a reason — short-haul, big-city, no jet lag. If the goal is a time, compare it with the European PB list.

The traps that inflate the number

Hotels before the bib is paid. The lottery closes 30 September. Paying for April Marais rooms in September and then missing the draw — or missing the 72-hour payment window — is an expensive non-race.

Assuming Schneider Electric / ASO pages are still live. The Ville de Paris concession moved to Cadence. Entry, fees, and runner info live on asicsmarathondeparis.com. Old domains and charity pages still showing “11 April” are stale; the race is 4 April 2027.

Two nights when you still have to do the expo. Packet pickup is usually a proper afternoon on big French city races. Squeeze it into race morning and you pay in alarms and Metro stress instead of an extra night — confirm Cadence’s 2027 expo window once published.

Assuming the bib line is the whole trip. €169 is real. So is £420 in hotels on our default three-night assumption, plus the flight or Eurostar.

Tour-operator certainty tax. Guaranteed entries exist for a reason. Run the DIY total on the trip page — flights, hotels, and nights — before you buy a bundle because the lottery said no.

Ignoring medical paperwork. French mass races usually need a medical certificate or PPS. Cadence will publish the 2027 rule in the race regulations; do not discover it the week before you travel.

What to do next

If the lottery is still open, enter on the official ASICS Marathon de Paris site before 30 September 2026. Do not book the hotel yet.

If you already have a 2027 bib (and have paid within 72 hours of selection), open the Paris Marathon trip page, set nights to match your actual travel times, price Marais or 8th hotels, and lock flights into CDG — or Eurostar — against that total. Book a private transfer only if you land late with kit.
